FAQs
What is documentary style wedding photography?
Although I certainly have an aesthetic look to my work which I have developed over many years, the main thing my images have in common is that they capture real moments and make you feel something. At every wedding I strive, above all else, to document the mood, the emotion, and the moments. This is documentary wedding photography. My photographs often have an arresting, unique style to them, and people often ask me, “How do you take pictures like you do?” My answer to this is not, buy an expensive camera, or use this specific lens. My answer is always, “Focus on emotion.”
Can you still get good photos if it rains?
I’m from the North-West of England. I spend my life taking great photos in the Manchester area in “bad” weather conditions! The truth is, it doesn’t matter about the weather, the light or the background scenery. Even if you have none of these factors in your favour, the main thing I try to capture is the fun, the joy and the emotional private moments of you and your loved ones.
How many photos do we get?
I deliver approximately between 300 and 500 images. Each one is fully edited to the highest possible standard, using my decade of expertise working in the film and TV industry.
How long until we receive our photos after our wedding day?
I put a small number of photographs on social media the week after your wedding, as a little teaser. After that it usually takes about 4 weeks to receive your digital download link. In very busy periods it can sometimes take 6 to 8 weeks. I also offer the option of guaranteed 1 week editing and delivery for £1000.
Can we print and share the photos?
Of course! They are your photos which you have paid for. You will receive 2 versions of your photographs. One will be “watermarked” and one will be “un-watermarked”. You can print and share these high resolution images directly with whomever you like, for non commercial use. I would ask that you share the “watermarked” version of your photographs when posting to social media. This would help me out immensely. Thank you.
Do you offer albums and prints?
As an optional extra I offer a luxurious 12×12”, 30 page handmade album. It has beautiful Art Cotton 220gsm 100% cotton rag fine art, archival grade paper, and you can choose from a leather or cotton cover in a variety of colours. This is the best album available on the market, with your images expertly laid out by me, for £1000.
Do you do family group shots?
Yes. Group shots are an important part of documenting your day. I try to do them as quickly and efficiently as possible, so you can get on with relaxing and having fun with your family and friends.
How long will you be there on the day?
This depends on which package you go for, the “Full Day” or the “Full Day + Evening”. For both I will be at the bridal preparation 2 hours before the ceremony.
For the “Full Day” package, I finish at 9pm.
For the “Full Day + Evening” package I will photography all of the fun and dancing up until 12am.
How far do you travel to weddings?
As far as you need me. The majority of the weddings I photograph are in Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, The Peak District and The Lake District. Many are also in London, where I lived for 7 years. If I do need to travel further than 100 miles from Manchester then I ask for a nights accommodation the day before the wedding. This is to make sure I arrive in good time, without traffic issues and 100% fresh for your big day.
What is a pre-wedding shoot?
A Pre-Wedding shoot is a 1 hour photo shoot in a local location of your choice. It’s a chance firstly to get some lovely natural shots of you as a couple. We’ll just go for a walk, stopping occasionally to get fun and relaxed photos. Secondly it’s a way for us to get to know each other better, and to get more relaxed around each other. This means on the day it real will be as if I’m one of your guests, and this will help us to get even more natural and relaxed documentary style photographs.
What is a post-wedding shoot?
A Post-Wedding shoot is a 1 hour photo shoot in a local location of your choice. If you don’t feel you have time before your wedding for the Pre-Wedding shoot, then getting some great candid shots a few weeks or months after your wedding could be the perfect option for you.
Do you have back-up equipment?
Yes! Having multiple cameras and lenses is vital for a wedding photographer. You only get one chance to capture each moment of your day. This is why I use 3 cameras to photograph your wedding. Each camera is attached to a different focal length professional lens. These specialist lenses allow me to get many different looks in all situations. In my bag I also have back-up lenses and other photography equipment such as flashes, batteries and memory cards.
Are you insured?
Yes. I have £5,000,000 public liability cover, as well as professional indemnity insurance.
How do we book you?
Say hello on the contact page and tell me when your wedding is, and what you’ve got planned. If I’m available, I’ll email you my current pricing brochure and contract. If you like what you see, you can send back the signed contract, along with a BACS transfer of the £400 booking fee, and you’ll be fully booked in and I will turn away any other interest for your date.
If you would like to meet up at any point before booking, or have a facetime meeting, to talk about your wedding and for us to see if we are a good fit for each other, then just let me know.
When you’ve booked, we’ll arrange a facetime meeting closer to your wedding date, once you have a more definitive plan for your day. This is when it starts to feel real and exciting!
Please note, due to the high number of enquiries, I do not reserve any wedding dates without a £400 booking fee and signed contract.
