The Wellbeing Farm is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph and film. Set in the picturesque hills of Edgworth, Lancashire, in between Bolton and Blackburn; couples looking for a unique and quirky wedding venue need look no further.
I am fortunate to live very close to this special wedding venue and I love when an engaged couple contact me to say they have chosen to have their big day at the farm. My first response is to congratulate you on your choice of venue, as I try to reign in my excitement. I know it’s going to be such a fun and relaxed occasion for you and your guests, as the team of Wellbeing Farm staff, and dedicated wedding coordinators, work tirelessly, both before and during your day, to provide everything you need for the perfect wedding, tailored to you.
THE WELLBEING FARM WEDDING PHOTOS AND VIDEOS
Below is a short gallery of 31 photographs and 2 videos from weddings I have had the pleasure of capturing at The Wellbeing Farm over the past few years, along with more information underneath about this award winning Lancashire wedding venue.
If you like my natural, relaxed documentary style of photography then please get in touch. I will document your unique wedding day in an unobtrusive manner, leaving you and your guests to enjoy yourselves, as I capture unposed, real moments.
A WEDDING VENUE WITH LLAMAS
One of the many reasons couples choose to get married at The Wellbeing Farm is the fact that there are llamas, alpacas and donkeys available to pet and have unique photographs taken with.

EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE FARM
Guests are also free to wander around, as each wedding will have exclusive access to the entire farm for the day.
In the fields surrounding the farm there are often sheep, helping to creating a lovely and authentic rural setting.
OUTDOOR WEDDING CEREMONIES
Since 2018, the bride and groom to be can decide whether they would prefer a fully licensed indoor ceremony, in the wedding barn, or a fully licensed outdoor wedding ceremony on the front lawn underneath the purpose built gazebo. The outside ceremony is weather dependant, but for a couple planning on getting married in this beautiful area of England, having this option is a huge bonus in my opinion.
A RUSTIC BARN WEDDING
The barn was converted in 2013 from an old cattle shed into a beautiful wedding barn. The room is spacious, yet cosy, and the addition of skylights in the roof, covered by cotton fabric, introduces soft natural light to the daytime photographs.
Ceremonies in the barn feel very intimate. Hay bales covered with patterned fabric are arranged, along with wooden chairs, to form the aisle and seating area. Combine this with a personalised wedding ceremony you can opt for with a civil ceremony, and your wedding can be truly special and unique to you.
Biodegradable confetti is allowed in the courtyard outside the barn. I love confetti shots, and I often organise the guests into a ‘confetti tunnel‘ for when the married couple first emerge from the barn.
WEDDING RECEPTION AND ROOM LAYOUT
The wedding barn seats 170 guests, with capacity for a total of 270 evening guests. The room can be arranged multiple different ways. I’ve seen many layouts whilst photographing at The Wellbeing Farm, and all have looked fantastic and well suited to the individual wedding. Talk to Celia and her team for expert and friendly advice on what might be best for your wedding.
Couples can decorate the space however they like, and the farm allows unlimited use of their props store, with hundreds of items to choose from. Note, the fairy lights and white fabric are permanent fixtures and consistent for each wedding. Access is granted from 10.30 am the day of the wedding. Wedding decorations must be collected by 12.00pm the following day.
For the wedding speeches, speakers can decide to use the provided microphone and PA system. A projector and screen are also available for embarrassing either of the newlyweds with old photos, videos and school reports.
LOCALLY SOURCED FOOD AND DRINK
The Wellbeing Farm prides itself on providing locally sourced produce, and even rears its own Wheatsheaf Farm lamb, which is prepared at the 130 years old family run Whiteheads butchers.
In their own words, “Our formula for wedding food is ‘buy the best quality, cook it simply, serve it generously’. Or put another way, good quality fresh, farm-based Lancashire food served in a quirky, laid back relaxed atmosphere.”
And from what I’ve seen and experienced (they always feed me well, free of charge to the couple) this is definitely the case. Generous portions of food and wine are placed in the centre of the tables for guests to help themselves. This adds a lively social element to the proceedings, and helps create a fun and joyous atmosphere to this part of your day.
The farm provides many different options for a bride and groom to choose for their wedding breakfast and evening wedding meal, depending on preference and budget. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dietary requirements are all catered for upon request.
Delicious canapes are proved after the wedding ceremony, or on arrival if you’re getting married at a church, along with specially made Wellbeing Farm cocktails and beers.
The farm also owns its own hog roast and pizza oven, saving couples the hassle of sourcing these themselves. They always go down a treat with hungry guests in the evening.
A multitude of cakes can be found on the cake cart after the wedding breakfast. This is heaven for those with a sweet tooth. As is the sweet cart, where guests can help themselves to whatever treats take their fancy.
And for those with a more savoury palette, a cheese celebration cake can be provided.
If you would like to taste the delicious food for yourself, for £35 per person you can book on to The Wellbeing Farm wedding feast experience events. The money will be refunded if you go on to book your wedding at the farm. These social events are fun and relaxed evenings, starting at 7pm, in the wedding barn where you can sample the wedding food options available. For future dates go to their Facebook page.
As for liquid sustenance, The Wedding Barn Bar stocks 2 lagers on draught, draught cider and Black Sheep ale. In addition they stock bottled premium lagers and ciders along with a great range of whiskies and other spirits. A well stocked gin bar is also present.
This quirky North West wedding venue also owns its own independent microbrewery called ‘The Edgworth Brew Company’. The blonde, bitter and IPA produced are available for weddings, and can be personalised with a unique pump clip design and a special name to give happy couples an extra magical touch to their big day.
Another huge bonus for wedding guests is the availability of free tea and coffee at the drinks station.
A FAMILY FRIENDLY WEDDING VENUE IN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND
The Wellbeing Farm is the perfect place to get married if you’re planning on having children at your wedding. Couples often hire me to photograph their wedding specifically because they love the pictures I have taken of children at The Wellbeing Farm. The farm is very accommodating for kids, and I think this comes across in my photography.
FUN AND GAMES AT YOUR WEDDING
Both adults and children will enjoy the oversized games of Jenga and Connect Four, and they can also jump on one of the space hoppers to bounce over to the crazy golf course. For the more competitive kids, and adults, there is sack racing and tug of war available too. You never want to be on the wrong side of a competitive bridal party for those games! Not forgetting the llamas, alpacas and donkeys to pet and look at. All these activities provide fantastic entertainment and photo opportunities for your special day.
Babies and toddlers have also been thought about. Baby changing facilities are provided in both the Wedding Barn and Wheatsheaf Barn and there are always emergency nappies and wet wipes to hand. The smaller Wheatsheaf barn can also be used as a quiet place for children if they need a break from the celebrations.
All buildings of the farm are fully accessible for pram and wheelchair users.
LOTS OF SPACE FOR TIPIS, MARQUEES AND BOUNCY CASTLES
This forward thinking wedding farm have invested in their own tipi. This can be used throughout the day as a quiet area to sit down and get out of the sun, or wind and rain. In the evening the fairy lights help to create a cosy atmosphere for those whose legs need a break from dancing.
If you would like more covered space outside then couples are welcome to hire more tipis or marquees. The abundance of space, and willingness of staff to help make your day how you want it, means whatever you are imagining your day to be can probably be accommodated. And of course, this includes bouncy castles.
PHOTOGRAPHING THE LANDSCAPE
The Wellbeing Farm is located in such stunning surroundings, and as such, if you as newlyweds would like portraits of the two of you on the day, I find only five to ten minutes is all that is necessary to capture these shots. There is no need to pull you away from having fun with your friends and family for any longer, as I can find fantastic photographic locations everywhere within the farm. Using multiple different lenses, such as ultra wide angle 16mm f4, 50mm f1.4 and 200mm f2.8 telephoto, and by changing camera settings, I can create a variety of photographic looks in a short space of time. Sunset is a perfect time for this type of photography.
Silhouettes can simplify a composition and help the viewer to concentrate on the connection between the couple.
Based at the edge of the West Pennine Moors, the great North West landmark of Winter Hill stands tall and proud to the west of the farm. Winter Hill and its surrounding areas of Horwich, Belmont, Abbey Village and Chorley are prime cycling and triathlon routes, and I often get sports enthusiasts wanting to include their favourite hill into the composition. With the correct telephoto camera lens this can be incorporated into your photos from the farms location.
BEFORE AND AFTER YOUR WEDDING
I also offer both pre and post wedding photo shoots which can be photographed all around the Manchester area and the wider North West of England region. Edgworth, Rivington, Tockholes, Haigh Hall and Mannchester are some of the most popular locations for these 45 minute, relaxed photography walks. If you have any location special to you then just let me know. The reason I offer post wedding photo shoots is because planning a wedding can be very time consuming, and some people would feel more relaxed having their shoot some time after the wedding. This also opens up the possibility of having your photographs taken in a different season to your wedding. Many couples having a summer wedding enjoy autumn post wedding shoots.
EVENING TIME AT THE FARM
Evenings in the barn are a fun and lively affair. A large PA system is ready for wedding DJs, or your own music playing device, to plug in to. There is also plenty of room to accomodate both large and smaller wedding bands. The Wellbeing Farm has a music and bar license until 1am.
One evening wedding activity guaranteed to get your guests off their chairs is the limbo. Of course, the farm’s own limbo pole can be used at your request.
CARS AND TAXIS
A large car park is located to the side of the wedding barn. This has ample room for all your guest to park. Overnight parking is allowed, provided you collect your car the following morning. Multiple taxi companies will drop off and collect from this Edgworth wedding venue.
A PLACE TO STAY FOR BRIDAL PREPERATIONS AND ON YOUR WEDDING NIGHT
0.5 miles from the farm itself, set in leafy and secluded grounds, is the beautiful two-bedroom, and two bathroom, Barons Farm wedding house. This lovely B&B has a large lounge area, perfect for bridal prep, with plenty of space for makeup artists and hairdressers to set up. The mature gated gardens, woodland area and lake are for the exclusive use of the 6 guest who are able to stay at the house.
A choice of a large full English breakfast or a delicious continental breakfast is included. Check in is from 5.30pm, and checkout is at 12pm.
